Radio Ministry in Southeast Asia
The radio broadcasts in the Mien language are prepared in Richmond, California and in Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai, Thailand. The taped broadcasts are sent out from Christian-owned transmitters in Manila and Saipan Island. There are over 1,000,000 Mien in China, Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand. Over 99% of these Mien are not Christians. Many have never heard of Jesus! But they can now hear the Gospel on their short wave radios.
Initial discussions about the need for this project began over 20 years ago. The first broadcast went out over the airwaves in March 1995 and every night since then they have been beamed over the mountains and across the rivers to all areas where the Mien live in Southeast Asia. Many of those Mien are illiterate. Many cannot afford to buy postage stamps, but enough have responded that we are encouraged to press on with this project.
